Siblings

“Shocked”, was an understatement.

When the news of your death,

Entered the dysfunctional home,

Our lights were gone, it stole our breath.

Ma cried like a baby

Baba sat petrified; on your bed-

Where you will never sleep,

It was dyed with invisible red.

They said-

“A rare gift with potential”

“Promising personality on the rise”

Fools did not notice the bricks you were collecting,

To build up a wall that led to your sad demise.

I thought we were close…

We secretly read Harry Potter at midnight,

I cried with you collecting its torn pages,

And saw you being buried in alpha-beta-cosines.

I thought we were close…

Because I knew you liked him.

When they knew, they taught you a ‘lesson’.

Did you do it as a payback?

Because your memories will haunt their dreams

For the rest of their pathetic silly lives.

Why did you let yourself go?

You once said you loved me most.

Then, why? Tell me why this fatal blow?

You did not even bother to leave a note

They dressed your mortal body like a queen.

They put flowers around your casket,

The sky cried and they mourned their sins

Yes I am angry but I hope you are finally at rest.

That night when the rain ceased to fall,

And a few stars peeped through torn clouds,

Wind whispered that I couldn’t have saved you at all,

But by choosing life I do have a chance to make you proud.

In the next life we will be sisters again

I will be the older one protecting you

We will reign over sunshine and rain

I promise; we will make it through.
